The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer

The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer
My Life At Rose Red
288 pgs.

Synopsis:
At the turn of the twentieth century, Ellen Rimbauer became the young bride of Seattle industrialist John Rimbauer, and began keeping a remarkable diary. This diary became the secret place where Ellen could confess her fears of the new marriage, her confusion over her emerging sexuality, and the nightmare that her life would become. The diary not only follows the development of a girl into womanhood, it follows the construction of the Rimbauer mansion -- called Rose Red -- an enormous home that would be the site of so many horrific and inexplicable tragedies in the years ahead.

First Line:
Dear Diary: I find it a somewhat daunting task to endeavor to place my thoughts here inside  your trusted pages.

My Thoughts:
I remember being scared out of my wits and loving this movie.

So, I thought I'd read the book.  Much to my disappointment, although I was scared at times, I did not like this book.  I kept thinking I would, so I kept reading.  Sad to say this is one of those cases I liked the movie, which is completely different than the book, much better.
What are your thoughts?  Have you read this book?  Have you seen this movie?
*This book contains adult situations and relationships.  It is not for kids.  Sex is mentioned.
